AdiSU lauds RBAPF decision
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: While welcoming the press statement given by Ramle Banggo Adi Peopls’ Forum (RBAPF) for their intention to remain in present East Siang district published on January 31 issue of this daily, AdiSU in a release said that it did not find justification in MLA Tako Dabi’s rejection to the people’s urge.
Being a senior citizen and representative as well he should refrain from making such comments, it said.
“We welcome the creation of the new district and appreciate it for better administrative convenient and all round development for the people of Arunachal Pradesh, but such move should not hurt sentiment of people in general,” the release said.

Demonstration on threshing of rape seed and mustard
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), East Siang, College of Horticulture
and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat conducted a demonstration
on threshing of rape seed and mustard using tractor model multicrop thresher at Taki-
The demonstration was conducted at an area of 1.5 hectare. The farmers were made acquainted with the thresher by letting them carrying out the operation themselves during the demonstration. The process requires only 4 persons where and the machine used can thresh over 1000 kg of dry mustard a hour.
The subject matter specialist o the KVK imparted knowledge to the farmers regarding the thresher machine and needs of selective machinery for cultivation of different crops.

GSU ultimatum to Govt on Yudik murder case
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Galo Students’ Union (GSU) has demanded the state government to fulfill its various demands in connection with Goto Yudik murder case before February 10.
Deciding unanimously to continue its stir, in case the government fails to meet the demands within the given time period, GSU in its executive body meeting here yesterday placed few demands afresh ‘with slight modification’ in addition to the Union’s earlier demands submitted on January 15 before the government, which included immediate dropping of Parliamentary Secretary Home from his post for his alleged failure to discharge his authority and power as the Parliamentary Secretary (Home), immediate transfer of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and Town Magistrate of West Siang district, inquiry into the involvement and role of the Chairman and Organising Secretary of LOC in the mentioned incident, speedy investigation and submission of charge sheet against the culprits at the earliest.
“We appeal to the State Govt. to address our demand within February 10 failing which the union will be left with no other option but to continue its democratic movement,” the release threatened.

Army medical camp benefits over 500
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: The 12 Assam Regiment and 402 Field Hospital under the aegis of Headquarter 2 Mountain Division organized a free medical camp at Tilai village of Lohit under ‘Operation Good Samaritan’ today.
A total of 515 civilians have availed the opportunity. The patients were treated mainly for diarrhea, respiratory problems, fungal infections, malaria, viral fever, anemia and skin infections besides basic treatment for other diseases. Various rapid laboratory tests as well ECG were also done. Children were also administered vaccination during the camp. The patients were provided medicines for all kind of ailments.

GBS mourns death of social worker
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Giogi Brothers Society (GBS) has deeply condoled the untimely demise of Giogi Nyakum, chairman of the Society’s youth wing who breathed his last at Lorr village near biological park here on January 28. He is survived by three sons and three daughters. Born at Hatam village on Oct 4. 1979 under Sangram circle in Kurung Kumey district, late Giogi was the founder chairman of the GBS (in 1997). He was a sincere social and political worker and also elected as Gram Panchayat member from Hiba –I in 2003 and 2008. His demise is an irreparable loss to the society. The society members prayed for his peace in heavenly abode and for enough strength to the bereaved family.

‘Revenue backbone of a state economy’
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Describing that revenue is the backbone of state economy, Tax and Excise Joint Commissioner Tani Jongkey said that the development and sound economy of the States and the country solely depends on handsome revenue collection.
Briefing the importance of tax collection to the business community of Itanagar in an interactive dealer awareness programme here today, the Joint Commissioner was optimistic that if the dealers improve their sincerity, honesty and sense of belongingness, the revenue collection of our state can be doubled from the present collection and thereby improve State’s economy to a great extent. He also observed that 99% of the businesses in the State are being run by outsiders and therefore, he appealed them to consider themselves as Arunachalee and contribute in the developmental process through effective collection of revenue because they act as tax collection agency on behalf of the Govt. One sentenced to 2 years imprisonment in land selling case
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: In a landmark judgment one person namely Karsi Tayem has been sentenced to 2 years simple imprisonment in judicial custody under section 420 IPC for selling a same plot of land to the two different persons. Delivering the judgment Talo Potom, judicial magistrate first class, Itanagar capital complex further noted that the pecuniary transaction between the parties shall remains as it was and the interested parties may initiate a legal action against the accused under relevant sections of law after the completion of his sentences.

While reviewing the NRHM activities, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Tape Bagra and Special Secretary, (HFW) Dr Shalini Verma observed the trend of quality service delivery and gave focus on target set in the ROP. While advocating for improvement in the financial achievement they directed all DMOs / DRCHOs to ensure that the fund utilized at different level be uploaded into the web portal.
Acknowledging the untiring effort of DRCHOs of Kurung Kumey, Changlang and Tawang districts, the Commissioner requested DRCHOs of other district to work hard.
On the concluding day, Dr T Taloh, Jt DHS (FW) gave an overview of PCPNDT Act and its importance. While presenting about the status of Arunachal, he requested all the DMOs to adhere to the Act and take all necessary steps to ensure registration of all ultrasound machine / clinic in the districts. The last presentation of the review meeting was on ‘Delivery Points’ by Dr D Padung, State Nodal Officer (NRHM). He requested all to meet the criteria in all health facilities of the respective districts. The review meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Director of Health Services Dr K Nishing. New CS motivates doctor fraternity
H K Paliwal, the new Chief Secretary of the state addressed the medical fraternity during the NRHM review meeting which is of its kind in the history of NRHM in the state. Paliwal motivated the doctor fraternity of being the ‘second God’ saying that a smile on the face of the doctor takes away half the problem of the patients. Giving priority on health care he also assured all possible help from his end. While introducing the new chief secretary, the HFW Commissioner narrated how he (Paliwal) is an Arunachalee because of his love for the people of the state. His impeccable honesty, punctuality, workaholic character and integrity are of highest echelon, he said.

Arunachal stall in Kolkata Book Fair launched
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: As part of the 37th Kolkata International Book Fair, the exhibition stall of Directorate of Research, GoAP, was formally inaugurated today by Bijoy Talukdar, Deputy Resident Commissioner, Kolkata in a small but impressive function in presence of all staff of Arunachal Resident Commissioner’s office besides a number of visitors.
It requires here a mention that the exhibition stall has been commissioning since 26th January, the day of inauguration of the KIBF at SBI auditorium, Milan Mela in Kolkata.
In his inaugural address, Talukdar while expressing his utmost satisfaction over Arunachal putting up a stall in KBIF said, “Aesthetically the exhibition stall hosted by Directorate of Research is very attractive and one of the best. The cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh is adequately focused through its creative interior design and display of books. It has all merits to draw the inquisitive attention of the visitors.”
He also lauded the efforts of Director of Research in general and the visiting Arunachal team’s officials trio led by R N Koley, Asstt Director (Culture) and comprising Dr S K Ghosh, Asstt Curator, S Chanda, Documentation Asstt in particular for highlighting Arunachal Pradesh to the greater mass.
Commenting on Arunachal’s participation in Kolkata International Book Fair for two successive years, Director of Research, Dr Tage Tada said, “It is a matter of great concern that the North East particularly Arunachal Pradesh has been overlooked by national media except publishing some negative news only. Awareness cum workshop on sustainable drinking water supply, sanitation and FTK
KHONSA, Jan 31: A two days block level awareness cum workshop for PRIs on sustainable drinking water supply and sanitation and field test kit (FTK) training was organized by Khonsa Division of Public Health Engineering and Water Supply Division at Longding yesterday. Altogether 110 participants attended the programme.
Attending workshop, Dr. M Lowang gave brief note on relationship between health, water and sanitation. He informed that 80% of the disease is caused by contaminated water and 90% of diseases in Longding district are found to be water borne. He encouraged the gathering to give utmost importance to water quality.
Doi Tarak, Consultant, PHE & WS Division, Khonsa gave detailed information on the role of panchayat raj institutions/ VWSC in the management of drinking water supply and sanitation through PowerPoint presentation. He elaborately explained on how to plan, implement, operate, maintain and manage water supplies to ensure their sustainability. He also highlighted on how to collect water sample and what parameter to be tested using Field Test Kit (FTK).

Further, he told that water is an elixir to our life and everybody should be careful about the quality of water supplied to them as most villagers consuming it may be prone to various water borne diseases.

Workshop on joint forest management
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: A two days workshop to analyze the program and policies relating to Joint Forests Management in the state through participatory discussions with stakeholders organized by the Department of Forestry, NERIST began today.
The programme participants include CCFS/DFOs/ROs/VFMC chairman from different parts of the state. Workshop also has registered participation from mass allied groups such as scientists, academicians and programme officers of GBPIHED, RGU, SFRI and other institutions including NERIST.

The weather forecast based agromet advisory bulletin contains information on crop management which is based on weather forecast and gives warning to farmers much in advance regarding variations in rainfall, in its amount and other weather factors including valuable information on pests and diseases.
Based on this information, a farmer is better geared to decide about his choice on crop management including appropriate time for sowing, wedding, and harvesting and fertiliser application.

Dear Editor,
I, on behalf of myself and my entire Doji family would like to express my heartiest gratitude and indebtedness to all those people who stood by me and my family at the hour of crisis which I had undergone few months back. I am still recuperating but the situation is better now. When I look back, I realize that I owe this new phase of my life to so many people, most of whom I personally don't know, but cutting across all man made barriers of religion, regionalism, casteism and most importantly communalism, all of you came together under one umbrella of humanity and wished for my well being and even contributed monetary help. Your prayers and good wishes had been really a source of guiding light, which helped me to garner my inner strength to fight on, no matter how grim and demoralizing the situation was.
The kind of unconditional support, love and affection that I got from you all, had been the only source of inspiration and strength to cope up with that difficult time of mine. Though no words can exactly express the feeling I have to say, as its inexplicable, I would sincerely like to thank one and all from the core of my heart to be a pillar of support and great understanding during my turbulent time.

‘Rukin’ -
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed columns, I would like to bring in notice to the people in general and tourism department in particular about a mysterious and unexplored landscape named 'Rukin' at Basar of West Siang District.
Located just half km away from Indian Council of Agriculture and Research (ICAR),
Gori village, Basar, Rukin is a tributary of river 'Sii' that flows through Basar.
The area of confluence of these rivers has natural beauty at it's wilderness. The
big trees, small waterfall, big rocks and sand on river banks are it's unique features.
The gorge of Rukin is no less beautiful than Colorado river of USA or Marble rocks
on Narmada river, with big enormous ancient rocks of various shapes through which
mystic Rukin flows that will surely make one lost in another world. The cynosure
is the spine-
I hope Deptt. of Tourism will pay attention to make Rukin a famous tourist spot.
